Where to find the patterns from my "Hat Blog"

A majority of them were found thru Ravelry so some may not be able to link up, but I'll post the names so that you might be able to find them later if you so choose.

The baby hat, I created on my own...as well as the purple and white hat (with color specks) and the rainbow hat, so those will not have any pattern to follow unless I figure out how I did them. :)

Ok, so the teal and black hat that I made as a gift for my (future) sister-in-law is from a pattern called "Scattered Mama Hat" that is published on the creators website: http://www.crazyhatlady.com/

The purple/white hat with the pom-pom on top is called the "Crocheted Vision Hat" (and the rows are actually worked vertically, instead of in the round, and then you sew together when you're done! You can find the pattern at Coats & Clark.

And finally the slouch hat (cream with colors) was designed by Jessica Suzanne (Ravelry) and can be found here.

Now, I can't forget to share the awesome scarf, so here y'all are - a bonus! This beautiful pattern is called the "Sea Shells Scarf" and is available as a .pdf download on Ravelry.

I guess the whole message of this little blog is to say, JOIN RAVELRY if you haven't already. It is an awesome place to share what you have created and see what other's have. I love it! I've been so inspired that I have even taken to writing down ideas for patterns I've had. While some may never come to fruition, it most certainly gives me another creative outlet. Which also is a nice transition, because I think the next entry of mine will be either a tutorial for Photoshop, or maybe just a "Hey look at my photos!" kind of deal. We'll see. Either way, I hope you enjoy!

Hat Blog!

Ok, so lately I've been on a hat kick, so I'm going to share the hats I've been doing recently (or not so recently).

First, I'll start with another baby hat I have completed. This time it is for a co-worker and friend who is expecting her second little girl. Hooray! I started off wanting to do a hat more oriented toward the summertime, with maybe a mesh pattern, but it didn't work out so instead the only row of "mesh" I did turned into a place to put ribbons in. Ended it with a row of little ruffles, and all in all I'm super happy with the way it turned out. Props to another co-worker/friend for tying an awesome little bow for me (since that's one thing I'm not good at).

This next hat was the first one I ever did by following a pattern, and I'm not wearing it quite like a slouchy hat should be worn, but they fall off my head otherwise. I can't remember what the pattern was off the top of my head, but I will update the post later when I have resources available to offer up where I found these hats!

Pulled this next hat off from another free pattern offered, and I have to say, I think this one might just be my absolute favorite so far. It was a little confusing to follow the pattern at first, but once I figured it out, it became super simple. Yay for cute hats!

This was a last minute Christmas present for the manz sister - aka my boyfriend's sister - in her favorite colors. I also did a scarf to match, and apparently she's gotten lots of compliments on it. Yay! Again, a free pattern, and will update with a link to said cute pattern. I'll even include a photo of her scarf, and that pattern! (Quick note: the hat photo is closer to the colors than the scarf photo - turquoise in I love this yarn!)

Ok, now for the hat I did all on my own, based on what I've learned from all the previous patterns! It's all dc until the very end, where I believe I did one sc row and followed that up by sc backwards (can't remember what the st is called specifically now...darn memory). Love it! And its just long enough to cover the tops of my ears (which get cold the fastest) and keep me warm. Huzzah! (I apologize for all the photos of me, especially if I look angry. :) I wasn't!)

Almost forgot to add this last little shock of color (in my Etsy store if you feel like looking up Crafts & Crochets) - had this yarn from FOREVER ago and finally decided to do something with it. Since there wasn't enough (by far) to do a fun scarf from, I did a hat, and it was JUST enough. Turned out pretty cute too. Most of my co-workers told me it'd be great for a ski hat, since it's so thick.
Ok, so that is it for now, I think I'll do a complete separate post for the patterns that way I can dedicate more space to the awesome people who developed and shared these in the first place! Happy Thursday!

Gives new meaning to "crispy chicken"

So...last night while making dinner, I decided to go ahead and make some lunch for today...except...I forgot it in the oven. Yup. I put it in around 6:30, watched tv, ate my dinner and sometime after I went to bed I shot up exclaiming, "GASP! THE CHICKEN!!!!" This is what I found:
HAHAHA, wow, I have NEVER burned anything before so I was a little shocked at myself. But makes for a funny time.

This weekend was pretty nice as far as weather goes (especially when you think about the snow we had a couple weeks ago) so the manz and I took our little puppies to the dog park for some outside time off the least. Allie is still pretty shy and either runs from other dogs or sits down when they come around to sniff. Toby on the other hand is a little more brave and will go around to everyone and 'introduce' himself but would rather sniff the ground and run with Allie than play with any of the other dogs and puppies. At one point, a larger dog (under 30 pounds probably) was trying to play with Toby...all he did was shriek, literally shriek, and run away with his tail tucked. While I kind of laughed, it made me realize that he was actually terrified of some dogs and I really don't want him, or Allie, to be. So anyway, until I started feeling sick, this weekend was a good one spent with the babies and the manz.

And I'll leave you with my safe-conscious little man, Toby. His sister, Allie, prefers to sit in the backseat like a big girl. :)

HAPPY MONDAY EVERYONE, HAVE A GRRRRREAT WEEK!

Gonna be an aunt!!!!

So about a month (or so) ago, I found out that my brother and sister-in-law were going to have a baby! Everyone in the family is super excited, it will be their first, and I'm really hoping to make it special for them (with some help). I have a surprise up my sleeve for them, and for fear of my sis-in-law finding out thru here, I'm gonna have to wait to share it until their baby shower. Sorry guys! I'll just say that it is SUPER cute. :-)

Anyway, the first thing I did was go buy baby yarn! Of course we don't know if they're having a boy or girl yet, so to keep it gender neutral I went with white. This was really my first attempt at making something so small with such tiny yarn, but I really enjoyed getting to create something from scratch purely based on some stitches I know. So, without further building up of the little hat, here is a photo of my progress:

And finished:

It is simple, dc to start out, then 3 rows of puff stitches with 2 sc rows in between each and finished off alternating rows of dc and sc. Ended with a cute little border of picot. :) LOVE IT!

Last year, a couple co-workers were pregnant, so I got out some old (Lion Brand Homespun) yarn that I've had for years and made some baby hats. They are super tiny, but they fit the newborns head and actually proved to be stretchier than I figured they would be.

(Also, sorry for cell phone photos that have my work space behind them - I like to photograph asap so it tends to be at my desk.)

Now, what I'm working on - I recently started my Etsy store (for crochet) due to co-workers and a few friends cheering me on so my strategy is to create several of each pattern in various colors to give variety. So, I already had several pretty little cowls made...and I have more started but unfinished and those are up. Also had a cute hat made up ready to go up, but since then I've been kind of in limbo with finishing things. I keep starting something else for someone else and I just get behind on things. Oh well, such is the craft world I suppose. So right now, the hat is what I'm working on getting finished in a variety of colors for the shop. This pattern is really enjoyable and easy to work, especially doing it so many times, it gets ingrained in your mind...which can be tricky when starting something new afterward.

Well, that's it for today but I hope you enjoyed the photos!

New!

Hey everyone! Finally decided to start up my own blog in case there's anyone out there actually interested in what I have to say. :) Also, I love to share photos I'm working on or crochet projects that I'm designing/making and to pass along neat little ideas from all over the web. Just be patient with me while I learn the 'ways of the blog.'

In my time on here, I'll be alternating posts between photography, crocheting and a probably even some posts that contain both! And if you ever have something to ask, add or suggest feel more than welcome to leave a comment.

Ok, well I'm super excited to be here, and in a few short minutes, I'll probably add another little paragraph for everyone on my current projects. :) Hooray!
